There are several different project management approaches that could be adopted to for your projects, dependant on what your want to do and how you want to do it.
Two of the most commonly used approaches utilised are Waterfall & Agile methodologies.
Let Sirimon Solutions work with you to establish what would be best for your organisation.
Waterfall Approach – Waterfall is a project management approach where the project is completed in distinct stages and moved forward step by step until delivery to the customer. The plan is made upfront and then executed in a linear fashion. Waterfall projects do not cope well with frequent changes.
Agile Approach – An AGILE project management Approach is an approach based on delivering requirements iteratively and incrementally throughout the project life cycle. AGILE allows for more flexibility and assumes that the customer does not know all their requirements upfront. Requirements are prioritised at the beginning of each increment using MoSCoW Analysis.
MoSCoW Prioritisation:
Must – Requirements that are critical for the minimum viable product therefore that MUST be included in the first iteration.
Should – Requirements that are Important and SHOULD be included in the first iteration but can be moved in to the next iteration if there isn’t the time or resource to include in the first iteration.
Could – Requirements that are desirable and COULD be included if time permits but can wait for future iterations.
Won’t (This time) – Requirements of a lower priority which WON’T be included this time but can be moved to another iteration. These can also referred to as would have requirements.
During each increment, TIME and QUALITY are never compromised for the capability that is delivered and anything not delivered in one increment can be moved in to the next increment. AGILE is incredibly popular for technology and IT based projects along with software due to the level of flexibility it provides.
Project Recovery Approach – Project recovery is defined as saving a stalled or troubled project from loss and restoring it to usefulness. The objective being to re-align the project to the Business Objectives and the requirements so that in time the benefits can be realised.
